Last Wednesday, the President signed into law his “sweeping” Financial Reform Legislation. The same reform of the financial system supposedly designed to prevent another economic disaster, yet which fails to even mention what are perhaps the greatest contributors to such a collapse; Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. ( This is like painting your house, but not touching anything that is parallel to the ground. )

In an obvious gift to the huge GSA’s for their continued lobbyist dollars support and beltway VIP mortgages, this new regulatory behemoth creates new agencies, hundreds of Government  ( Taxpayer funded ) Jobs,  and over 500 new and yet to be written regulations upon the financial sector. Regulations that will not see the light of day until after special interest lobbyists have ample time for their “pay and say” influence.
Fortunately for the Democrats in the Senate, the replacement for Sen. Robert Byrd was sworn in before he could unpack his luggage and cast his “Yes” vote to a standing ovation.  Unfortunately for Americans, the replacement for Sen. Robert Byrd was sworn in before he could unpack his luggage and cast his “Yes” vote to a standing ovation.
This law, this 2000 page plus gauntlet of graft and corruption, this legislation, that even it’s author Chris ( Sweetheart Deal ) Dodd, hailed as ” We won’t know how it will turn out – until after it is passed!”, does nothing to prevent the reoccurrence of financial folly. It merely adds new regulations, that regulators can add to the list of other regulations to ignore while they race to the bank to deposit their bribes, or surf endlessly on the taxpayers clock for porn.
In what is yet the latest manifestation of this administrations uncanny ability to completely ignore the will of the American people, and their own promises of transparency and “Change” to how Washington works, Mr. Obama and this deaf Congress have once again “wheeled and dealed”  another job killing monstrosity of Government growth and control,  and shoved it down our collective throats. Throats still sore from screaming –  NO MORE!
Sen. Harry Reid was able to push through enough votes after a brief scary moment when it looked like one of his 3 Republican votes might have changed their mind. Fortunately, Mr. Reid remains in charge and unafraid to buy any vote needed to bypass the will of the people, and was able to retain this wavering and typically anonymous vote. (see: Scott Brown )
Mr. Obama’s speech at the signing was his usual array of empty and lofty rhetoric of  “this is for the people” and “Ensuring  “never again”  that we near the abyss because of mismanagement”. Ironically, this is the exact  same sentiment that drives the Tea Party and those vowing to remove most if not all incumbents in November.
Immediately following this, Mr. Obama then signed the Unemployment Extension Bill. Another unpaid for addition to the debt we are placing upon our children and grandchildren. The Democrats, while levying charges of “they want to hurt the people” against the Republicans, for daring to try and pay for this extension, felt such added debt made more sense somehow, than drawing the needed funds from existing stimulus reserves or by offsetting future spending at this time of Crisis.
The President, after the mass media covered signing of the Financial Reform Bill and his very public victory address, then proceeded to sign this followup legislation in a closed door event, allowing no press coverage, in a slick calculated move, trying to avoid the almost certainty that a question referencing the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture – Sherrod Firing Case, would be asked. An event that he has no stomach for, much like the ongoing DOJ Discrimination Case, that both He and AG Eric Holder, have failed to address in any manner or comment on publicly.  ( Ahhhh sweet sweet Transparency! )
Now almost two years into his term, and after beating the drum of “Jobs are our number one agenda”,(Really? ),  We can only hope that Mr. Obama and his pre-lame duck, “short-time remaining in office” cohorts in Congress, will finally, at long last focus their energies on fixing our economy in  the only way that actually works – “stimulating job growth in the private sector”.
Fat chance of that happening as all are in campaign mode and Mr. Obama is too busy suing Arizona, killing jobs via moratorium in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, preparing to attempt  “Cap and Tax”  and “Immigration reform” legislation, hiding under his desk in regards to accusations against his Dept. of Justice,  holding back his deficit busting budget and  economic commission’s report until after November’s election, running around the country still selling us on his misrepresentations of the  “overwhelming success” of his Stimulus and the new “TAX” in Healthcare Reform, several more golf/vacation trips this year, and of course the inevitable fund raising “tour de fib” to help bank the needed capital to try and maintain the Democratic control of Congress. ( Heavy emphasis on the “Con”.)
Thankfully for all Americans, there are only 30 more months left to this “one and only term” of Mr. Obama’s misguided, misrepresented,un-transparent,non-post-racial, and anything but-bipartisan agenda of “Hope and Change!”

It was the Tea Party who claimed that they got Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown elected and that he was one of them. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Tea Party for electing Scott Brown since he voted for the Financial Reform Bill and help the President of the United States with another legislative victory, thank you Tea Party. Have you heard of “Unintended Consequences” or “Blowback”? Was he working for the Tea Party, himself or our Country, hmmm only you can answer this one?

The problem is this. Tea Party candidates will win a number of these congressional races because local districts are often safely partisan in nature. They can make their wild, unfounded claims, crazy accusations, etc., and win. That means not only are we likely to see an increase in Republican seats in both houses, we’re likely to see more antics, more insanity, more stupidity. At the same time they’re going to do everything they can to derail Obama’s policies which will likely mean high unemployment, a moribund economy, and more compromises on policy positions that make no one happy.

That could literally mean that if the Republicans put up a legitimate candidate in 2012, they could win. Such a result is bad enough, but the likely response for the Democrats is to move further to the “middle” to placate voters. As we’ve seen over the last decade, the “middle” in American politics is basically on the verge of being an 80s Republican. Increasingly that means we’ll have a political landscape of a conservative party and ratfuck insane parties. The former, given it’s track record, slowly moving to the right, the latter, given it’s track record, loudly screaming “socialism, communism, fascism!!!”

If we continue on this course, privatization will be socialism.

  • And stop using that lame leftist straw man to try to justify it. No one has told the Muslims that they can’t build a mosque. Those of us who oppose are saying “don’t do it THERE.” There are zoning ordinances across the nation that dictate where various businesses and other organizations can build. This is no different. There has already been discussion in NY about allowing this bunch to put the mosque somewhere else. But now that Obama has (again) stuck his nose in where it doesn’t belong, things are escalating out of control.
